Very nice game! I am using Colemak keyboard layout and playing many games on itch io lately, and what I found is, in some games, I can use the traditional wasd keys to move, just like in this game, which I want, but in some games, the keys are mapped to my keyboard layout, which makes the movement awkward. May I know the reason behind this? since I am not a developer.

yo guys, i dont know if you still remember me but do you guys still do updates on this game? i played it when it came out a lot and i found it again today. i would love to play some new updates so are you guys still on this game?

i remember you :), were slowly but surely working on the next update and are almost done, i know thats annoying to hear after so much time but trust me its nearing the end

Thats great to hear! I know updates can take quite some time and there is no need to rush. i will play new updates when they are ready :)

I've played this game for a while and I still dont know, Do the Jam, Post-Jam, Competitive and Pirate do anything???

therye just separate leaderboards for the various updates weve released. Since each update adds new stuff it felt weird to just group everything in one single leaderboard

Just found this game... love the game design, art, music, sfx... every aspect of it, really. I see it has been on a slow burn for a few years... any plans for more updates or a Steam release?


Couple of suggestions that might help for late game FPS issues:

Skulls and hearts are always active. They *could* activate on demand like eyes and colons do. Skulls could launch individual bones only when there is a mob near enough to that bone's path that there is some chance of a collision.

Collected soul orbs could be consolidated into larger orbs that represent multiple souls, eg. a large orb representing 8 souls, a larger orb for 64, and a huge one for 512. Not to suggest they clock over like normal base 8 numbers... 15 souls would be 15 orbs on screen, but 16 would be one large and 8 small.


Couple of QoL suggestions: 

When placing teeth I usually want to place several of them. Teeth could be a special case that does not require clicking on the gravestone for each new tooth, placement mode could stay active until player right clicks the ground or left clicks another gravestone.

I think the heart pulse gfx would work better underneath other gfx.

edit: Was reading some other comments about a sandbox mode... it would be nice if beating the queen for the first time unlocked an option to start the game at wave 10 so you have all parts unlocked and about 50 souls to spend. The introductory levels are a lot to wait through once you are familiar with the game.

Were working on a lot of the things you mentioned already. We've thought about wave skipping and I'm not sure if we should implement it because a lot of the game is building up your base as you progress. Starting at the queen wave with 5000 souls or something would just lead to people making the exact same base every time

I 100% agree that it would be bad to start at the first queen wave with a ton of souls, and it would also be bad to place multiple defences before the wave start. With that said, starting at wave 10 specifically would discourage me from building the same layout every time. I start with a basic symmetrical layout of 8 eyes inside a ring of 8 skulls, so I'm not making any building decisions or in any situations where panic building leads to non-optimal placement until about wave 14 when the rings are done and it's time to defend against pirates. As long as mobs still start spawning as soon as you place the first defence, starting at wave 10 would mean having to build very quickly to defend against bandits, knights  and vikings, you'd have only enough souls to build 6 skulls and 6 eyes or equivalent - it would be hectic, but it also opens up layout options, since player is no longer restricted by the build part unlock order and the incremental build costs which usually have me building eyes and skulls in pairs until I have to start thinking about pirates.

Were adding a pause button that allows you to freeze the wave startup timer, so panic placement isnt an issue anymore. There are also a few things were planning to add in future updates that would make wave skipping problematic. Still open to adding it in some way later on tho.

YES!!!!! PLEASE!!!!  A pause button for the timer would be incredible!!! I love this game, so addicted to it, but my one gripe is the auto wave starting so quickly, especially when I get into my safty bunker started and after a big wave of queens i have like twenty crowns sitting outside that are to far away for me to grab before the next wave starts and I get overwhelmed. Plus I cant place anything near the edge cause its to far away. A timer pause giving time to spend my several hundred souls that I cant spend cause all the empty spaces are to far away and to dangerous would be incredible!!

I like the concept! But my game (in browser) permanently freezed on 63 wave :(

The Game runs way smoother if you download it...so make sure to get the file if you wanna get past wave 63 :D

I got to wave 74 which had like 30 queens and it got too laggy to move lol. Good game but could use some optimizing.

please make it so that if you destroy a tower you get the souls back, and also make it keep the same price as it was before.

The prices are meant to escalate as the game goes on, thats staying, however refunding towers isnt something we actually discussed, so might consider it.

nice, also when i mean keep the same price as it was before i mean like after you destroy the tower you placed, the price of it goes back down by one.

Ah, well that would be included in the refunding tower discussion, however my initial thought is that it would stay that way since I think there should still be some punishment for destroying towers, especially if the refund is a full price + upgrade refund

i love the game but i have a question does anyone know how to code this game because im tryin to experiment with some of the game settings like the start souls enemy count stuff like that i would also not count my score as real if i do that. even just like commands if the game has any

what are you asking for exactly? mod support? sandbox mode? challenge mode? cheats?

sandbox mode would be fun

thats one of the things were planning for the next update, not sure if itll make it in tho

if it doesnt it doesnt, i know coding can be hard

if you havent already, the downloadable version performs much better than the web version. Performance is being improved as much as it can be but I guess it wouldnt hurt to add options to make the game run better

what's the best specs required to run this game??  I was at level 75 and the game (pc ver.) is running at 1fps lmfao

I really am having trouble building a big base because i dont know what order to do it in, any help?

i keep dying because i dont have all my stuff placed or upgraded yet

im trying to build one of the those big spiral bases, but i dont know what the best order of placement is to not die in the makin

i usually start building my walls in wave 19 or 21.

how are you guys so good, I can't even go past the second viking or whatever he's called. I think there is a definite problem in balancing

While a fun game having one hp in the early gives you almost no chance to survive its not fun like this

I may be a total newbie and also terrible at the game; cause I am. I have a set idea for a fortress that I suck at making. This may not be a popular idea. But... could there be like a sandbox mode or a cheat code for infinite souls or free towers? SOmetimes, I just want to make cool mazes without the stress. Help?

Havent thought about a sandbox mode, we will def consider it. But for the time being I think you should experiment with different base designs if one isnt working :)

Definetly been trying. Super obsesesd with the game. I do hope a Sandbox mode gets added but regardless game is awesome!!!!

Is it normal that the game doesn't let me continue buying or upgrading at  minute 32? I am playing using the download option.


It start removing the sound and in a couple of minutes after that, the game doesn't let me buy or upgrade anything. The only actions enabled are remove elements and move my PJ.

Had the same problem with the DL version yesterday. Didnt watch the minutes though.

Howdy! That's a bug that we're still trying to track down, unfortunately. It appears to occur most frequently when towers are placed down in quick succession and close together.

Weve recently planned out a lot of stuff for the game, including an eventual steam release, not sure exactly when were gonna finish the new update but atleast were working on it :)
