MAJOR UPDATE

I told you were still working on the game. A lot of stuff we've done has been background changes that allow us to add more cool stuff in the future. One important thing to mention is that the game now has simple data collection that specifically only collects information about where you place towers and where enemies die, this is so we can make better decisions about changes in the future and does not include any personally identifying information. But you can still disable it if you want.

Plant towers

The middle grave has been turned into a wooden grave and now has special properties. Just like before, the cost of the middle grave doesn't increase but no longer only spawns walls but rather various utility towers that can't be upgraded. However, only one of these towers can be accessed at a time because the wooden grave will change every few rounds.

  • Trunk: The tooth has been remodeled into a tree trunk to fit the plant theme, however still functions the same minus the upgrades.
  • Thorns: Spikes that damage enemies that walk over them. They deplete every time they're stepped on but recharge at the start of a wave.
  • Roots: Open ends of the roots can suck up nearby souls which will then be brought to the player and dispensed at another opening.

Gameplay changes

  • Added a pause button to the top of the screen that stops waves from starting until turned off.
  • Added a new enemy, the jester. I won't tell you what he does :)
  • When destroying a tower you will now be refunded the souls and the crown if the tower had one. It's important to note that you will ONLY be refunded souls spent on upgrades, not the initial cost of the tower which still increments with every purchase.
  • You can now place multiple towers down in sequence by holding down the mouse, instead of having to place them one by one. There is an option in the settings that lets you change the placement mode so that your selected tower wont go away until you right click.

Tower changes

  • The heart has been changed into the nose. This is to make it easier to understand what it does but also because we want to eventually do something more interesting with the most important organ in the human body. The functionality stayed mostly the same except for the crown upgrade which will now give the player a speed boost if they get hit by a crowned nose.
  • The colons crown upgrade has been changed, it no longer automatically collects souls from killed enemies as this was incredibly powerful especially since roots are a thing now. Instead, the crown upgrade will spawn a marker that the player can move around with their mouse which every single crowned colon will shoot at.
  • Eyes no longer have a cooldown after killing an enemy and we've changed the reduced cooldown upgrade into a range upgrade.
  • The skulls diagonal pattern is circular instead of square now.
  • Rebalanced a bunch of costs, damage values and other junk.

Enemy changes

  • Wizards no longer shoot projectiles and will instead try to fly down to you and whack you with their staff.
  • Pirate barrels aren't invincible anymore and will break after taking enough damage. Pirates can still be damaged directly with colons or the new thorns tower.
  • The health and speed of various enemies have been adjusted a little.

Other changes

  • Added a graphic when you hover over towers to illustrate what the upgrades do (I went a bit overboard with some of them oops).
  • A new leaderboard has been created for this update.
  • When you die you will be shown your position on the leaderboard.
  • You can scroll through the entire scoreboard now.
  • New music for queen fights.
  • A bunch of in-game graphics and UI stuff has been redone.
